Tonal Sheet | Antagonist Thumbnails

My objective here was to create some thumbnails for my Antagonists tonal sheet.
  • Thumbnailing is a better form of "sketching".
  • Helps create opportunities to make your drawing more awesome.
  • helps avoid making huge mistakes and allows for drawings to read clearer.
  • saves a lot of time cause you're not spending days on a single execution.
  • Make sure you know what you're gonna draw and how it's gonna look.
These are value/lighting thumbnails.
  • Good sense of lighting and value can help lead the eye toward focal points.
  • Help in establishing atmosphere and mood.
  • Defines foreground and background elements
  • Decide on high key/low key lighting
  • Decide on high or low contrast.
The bottom right and top left I think are the best for a character tonal sheet. They make the character the focal point rather than blend the character in with the background. I feel the bottom right is the best one because the character is bright against the background rather than the background being brighter than the character. This highlights key areas of my characters design and also splits the form up into dark/bright areas if contrast making it more visually interesting.
